The great comic, who has become immortal with his long running TV series, is known to have turned down dozens of advertising requests. He was apparently so impressed that the Ozzies had the guts to approach him directly to make an appearance in their new Greater Building Society Ltd commercial, that he agreed.
CEO Don Magin says, “Seinfeld topped our wish list of big stars we knew we’d never get.”
Is there any wonder that the poor man was shocked out of his wits when Seinfeld, who earned $2 billion from writing and acting in his own comedy, Seinfeld TV Show, gave his nod?
Magin adds, “He was wonderful. He gave us enough material for two dozen ads, along with his Ok to use it all. Jerry doesn’t need the money. He did it because he thought it was fun.
“We couldn’t afford what he’d charge if he did it for money.”
A hugely popular and wildly successful sitcom Seinfeld ran originally from July 5, 1989 - May 14, 1998.
