We all are aware of the fact that ‘Seinfeld‘ used to be on air from 1989-1998. Now that it’s been eleven years that the series ended, the ‘show about nothing’, by the creators Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld, is still ruling the hearts of the people. Though it has been defined as the show about nothing, it follows the life of four friends, who end up doing things that no one can even think of. Life is added to the show because of this nothingness and also because of the people who are near Jerry Seinfeld.

All the time that the series was on air, it was a hot favorite of people, because this was one show that could make people laugh, which hardly any other series could do at that point of time. The love for ‘Seinfeld’ could be gauged with many awards that the series won during the mid 90’s. It was awarded the Emmy for “Outstanding Comedy series” in 1993, Golden Globe Award for “Best TV-Series (Comedy)” in 1994 and Screen Actors Guild Award for “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series” in 1995, 1997 and 1998. Besides this, the show was also nominated for an Emmy award from 1992 to 1998 for “Outstanding Comedy series”, Golden Globe award from 1994 to 1998 for “Best TV-Series (Comedy)”, and Screen Actors Guild Award for “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series” from 1995 to 1998.

It was only show of its own kind and that was the major reason for its success. Most of the early episodes of the series were based on the life of the co-creator Larry David. Though, many of the incidents were taken up from the life of actor, creator of the show Jerry Seinfeld, life too. In fact, the character of Elaine was inspired from Jerry’s ex-girlfriend Carol Leifer.

After Seinfeld was proved a success, others tried to follow the same pattern, but only few could get the same success. One such show that followed the pattern and got huge success was ‘Friends‘. But it never did really affect the popularity of Seinfeld.

Seinfeld was loved by the people at that time too and people still love watching the crazy New Yorkers, when it re-runs on channels, even though it is after eleven years of the ending of the series.

‘Seinfeld Tv Show‘, the comedy series was one that was loved and liked by all and definitely it had its impact on the viewers. Well, if you ask me, I personally feel that the last episode of the series was one of the best episodes from all the seasons. The episode was directed by Larry David, the one who helped in the creation of the show and later left the show, but came back for the series last season’s finale.

Frankly, this kind of ending I have never seen in any of the series. The ending of the series was very different and the open ending to the series was always a plus point for it. This was one series, which did not end on a happy note and did not end on a note like that of fairy tales, where everything gets perfect for everyone. In fact the series ends with the four friends being sent to jail for one year, where they are charged with ‘criminal indifference’. Though the series started on a happy note, this was not expected from it. The ending, in fact, came as a surprise to me. The four friends who have never done anything to hurt anyone are put behind bars and that also for full one year.

In fact when they are convicted all Jerry is worried about is if they wear uniforms in jail and we see him asking ‘Do they make you wear uniforms in jail?’ In the very last scene of the series we see him standing behind the bars, wearing an orange jail uniform and asking his audiences, ‘So what’s the deal with the yard? And what’s with the lockup?’ This is how the beautiful series came to an end.

Now, you tell me isn’t that the strangest way of ending the series? On the other hand if you think, this way of ending the series leaves the creators of the show with an option, if they ever think of starting the series. Though hoping anything like that will now look like a waste. Anyways, probably it is this kind of different ways of presenting the series that was liked by the audiences.
